One of my entries into this year's annual New Mexico Veteran's Art (my first year entering the contest) It won first place in the show in its category (it fell under 'other', as there was no pyro-technique category and it's closer to drawing than anything else but still not covered by 'drawing' ). This is a wood-burning. It's made by using a wood-burning tool or soldering iron to burn the image into the wood; the longer you hold the heat to the wood the darker the line you burn thus you 'draw' with the tool very quickly to get lighter shades. It's a lot of fun, I'm surprised that it's not a more popular technique.
