I'm taking oil painting classes at the Oceanside Art Gallery with Joe Villela, he charges $20 a class, they are each 3 hours from 6pm-9pm on Tuesdays...Oils are the God medium of fine art!

I accidentally came across the JC Gallery and Studio when I got lost searching for a coffee joint, and it's been a discovery in my life akin to finding the Americas. It's owned by Joey Chavez, and he's been assembling a local art community which is something I would normally duck and run from, but even being an antisocial punk-ass, it's been an experience I'd never take back. I've started attending his figure drawing sessions, which are held on Wednesday nights at the gallery from 7pm-10pm. Visit the site for directions and contact information.

When I get to uploading my latest work you may be amazed at the change in skill, and it's due at large to both the oil painting course and from getting back into figure drawing.

Devious Plans

I've mentioned it before and it is still a work in progress, Returning Inspiration will be the first DA News article I submit, each issue will be accompanied by a linked collection. The first of this series in the works is 1000 Amazing Faces, I have been meticulously refining this collection to 1000 of the most Amazing Faces (technique-wise) that I am able to find through searching the archives of DA. If you've the time to give me a small hand with it, glimpse the collection thus far and if you can think of other portrait work that you believe merits inclusion I have space for about 13 more faces.
